ABC’s of Community Readiness

A Queer + BIPOC Centered Health, Safety & Leadership Event

Hosted by Queerolina’s Nurse Nikki in collaboration with One Day at a Time, EqualityNC, and Carolina Migrant Network, this event is a space for underrepresented communities to gather, learn, and strengthen collective care.

This event was developed by Nurse Nikki as part of her Master’s in Nursing capstone project, focusing on community empowerment and improving healthcare equity for queer and BIPOC individuals.

What You’ll Experience

  • A health-fair style vendor and resource market

  • Educational workshops (CPR, Stop the Bleed, protest readiness, advocacy skills)

  • Cultural competence resources for healthcare providers

  • Community networking opportunities

  • Performances from local artists

  • Raffle / silent auction benefiting community organizations

  • Pre- and post-event survey opportunities to strengthen future funding and research



This is not just a market. It is a structured, community-informed space designed to help people learn how to:

  • Advocate for themselves in healthcare settings

  • Support others during emergencies or protests

  • Navigate discrimination reporting processes

  • Strengthen grassroots and mutual aid networks



Admission is free. Vendors and instructors are curated to ensure alignment with community-centered values.
